Four rules that never move
An identity system is only worth holding if its rules cannot be quietly rewritten later.
- The number is not a rank
- It records when you arrived, nothing else. Number 12 and number 120,000 have identical rights and identical standing at zero.
- Pseudonymity is a right
- You may be known by a chosen name and never disclose a legal one. The record verifies what you did, not who your government says you are.
- The identity is portable
- It is yours to export. If Rebirth ever stops deserving you, your record leaves with you in a readable form.
- Nothing is issued twice
- A retired number is never reissued. The register is append-only and public.
