Six things standing will never do
A trust system is defined by what it refuses. These refusals are constitutional, not policy.
- Standing cannot be purchased, at any price.
- Standing cannot be transferred, gifted or inherited.
- Standing does not accrue for holding REB.
- Standing is held per territory — authority in one is not authority in all.
- Standing decays if you stop contributing, slowly and visibly.
- Standing is revocable when verification is later found to be false.
Standing is authority, not reward
It buys nothing. It gives you responsibility for the civilization, which is the only thing worth accumulating here.
- Verification rights
- Above a threshold in a territory, you may verify other citizens' undertakings there.
- Proposal weight
- Proposals from citizens with standing in the relevant territory are heard first.
- Titles
- Earned distinctions, each one issued with the recorded reason attached.
- Stewardship
- Responsibility for a territory's delivery — and answerability when it slips.
