What we will not do

A world that can be trusted has to be a world that can be held to something. Each principle below states a commitment, the specific things it rules out, and how an outsider can check it.

Nothing on these pages moves for decoration. Stone, typography, documents, evidence.

  1. 01The person is not the productNo part of Rebirth is funded by selling attention, behaviour or identity to a third party.
  2. 02State what is realAnything not yet built is labelled BUILDING or HORIZON, everywhere it appears, without exception.
  3. 03Leaving must workEverything a person creates can be exported in a usable, documented format, at any time, without asking.
  4. 04Intelligence declares itselfEvery machine-generated output states that it is machine-generated, where it came from and how confident it is.
  5. 05A human path always existsAny consequential automated decision can be reviewed by a person, and the route to that person is visible at the point of the decision.
  6. 06One record, many territoriesA person carries a single identity and a single record across every territory, and they own both.
  7. 07The terms come firstNo capability opens to the public before the terms governing it are published in plain language.
  8. 08Build in the openThe construction record is published as the work happens, including the decisions that turned out to be wrong.
  9. 09Attention is not a resource to mineNothing in Rebirth is designed to extend a session beyond the point at which the person is done.
  10. 10Security is part of the productVulnerabilities are disclosed, incidents are reported with a timeline, and neither waits for a news cycle.
  11. 11Value returns to the people who make itWhere people create value inside the world, the mechanism that returns value to them is published alongside the mechanism that takes a share.
  12. 12Hold us to thisThese principles are versioned, publicly challengeable, and cited in the decisions they constrain.
